‘Push Back’ is a concept record about the resolution of your two selves – the one you show publicly and the one behind closed doors. For Kelc, it’s her artist self and her personal/home self, strained further by deep feelings of imposter syndrome. The record opens with “Waking Up Crying”, a song that embraces self-reflection and vulnerability. As the album progresses, you follow Kelc’s journey of self-discovery and the eventual breakdown that results in the merging of her two selves. Sonically, you can hear the evolution with the songs getting darker and darker as the album continues.
